Quilt for my wall

Just recently I decided my dining room needed a quilt on the wall. I made one for my full size dining room a few years ago. It was packed away when my husband decided to knock down that wall....and haven't found a place to put it since. When I went to find it so that I could copy it for my mini dining room, I couldn't find it...it took me three weeks of searching until I finally found it!! It was packed away with my bed quilt that I can't put on my bed because of the sun. It took me 10 years to piece, patch and quilt so is too precious to use LOL! I had finished my mini quilt before I found it so they are not quite the same.

At last curtains

I have finally finished the curtains for the Dining Room window. I made some with a red and cream stripe but couldn't get the stripes to hang right so changed my mind and went with the navy. I find it hard to find time for minis in summer, I have more time in winter while my husband watches football on TV, I feel guilty when I leave him on his own!!

This is the view from the side of the house. The castle is a miniature David Winter Cottage brought out as a Christmas decoration. I don't have this one in my collection but I do have one similar. I still have the chair cushions, tablecloth and curtains to make. Not sure if I like the material I bought to make them. I get an idea of what I want and hardly ever am I able to find it.

Well, I am nearly there. This photo is taken from the Lounge. You can see the Chippendale book case at the side. This was one of the first kits that I made. I am halfway through making some books for it. The lamp on the table is made from beads.

Slowly, Slowly!

The Dining room is progressing slowly. I spend a lot of time waiting for the paint to dry!! The door is just sitting there and only one piece of architrave so far. I decided on carpet for the floor, I tried the stained wood floor from my maid's bedroom but found it too dark with the paint and smallness of the room. The side view shows the opening through to the Lounge. I was trying for the look of a Federation divider. I wanted to be able to see the Dining room from the front.

Blue Dining Room

I set aside the whole of last weekend to spend on my dining room. Unfortunately my husband had other ideas. We had to pick up the twigs and branches that were still laying around from the wind storm from a couple of weeks ago on Saturday, then on Sunday because it was calm we lit a bonfire and burnt them all. It was nice to get out in the spring sunshine, I suppose, all our neighbours were doing the same thing, the smell of smoke and the noise of chain saws came from all directions. I had better add that where we live we all have 5 acre blocks and live in the country. Still I would have liked to do more.
I was a bit worried that the blue would be too blue but it dried a lot lighter than it was when wet.

Nice and snug!!

I have quite a lot of babies, I keep coming across them in different boxes so I thought I had better decorate this pram. It was just a cheap one all black and very plain. I was going to make a cover in velvet but couldn't find a colour that I liked, I will keep looking. I was going to start my Dining Room at the weekend but I didn't get as much done as I would have liked. The power went off early Sunday morning and still wasn't on when I left to have a shower at my daughter's house this morning. When we lose power we have no water as the pump to the bore is electric. Very annoying!! The weather here was very rough we had one tree uprooted and another lost a branch......it was a big gum tree and the branch was as big as a tree!!

I have had this chaise for a while and have just got around to decorating it. I had to make the quilt to go over the back because I didn't like the bare expanse of cream. The book and chocolates I bought at a local Doll, Bear & Miniature Fair. The quilt is glued to the wood so it would stay there and not slip off.

Danith now has hair. I have some of Megan's hair (I've kept it for 13 years just for this purpose!) but I couldn't get it to stick, maybe I needed a different glue.

You can tell that I am new to this. I'm sure that you can work out which rooms are which. I can't seem to get the words to correspond with the photos when I have more than one photo. I also have to get the last photo first and work back.....can't find how to do it the other way around.
Here are some photos of my house. I would say that it is an Australian Victorian. My Grandmother had a house like this (only one storey) when I was growing up. I haven't secured the front and side panels yet, I thought it would be easier to decorate if they were separate.

The first floor room that is empty will be the Library, Music, Billiards Room, The ground floor will be the Sitting Room.
The empty room in the centre of the attic will be the Nursery.

This shows the left hand side the kitchen is on the ground floor and the bedroom is above it. The maid's bedroom is in the attic.

Other side open ..The bathroom is on the first floor, the dining room will be under it. The childrens bedroom/playroom will be in the attic.

Side closed.

Holly wanted to know why I was lying on the floor taking photos. As you can see just as I was about to take a photo of her she moved...the story of my life.. she doesn't like to have her photo taken...no patience.

Meet Danith, she was a bit easier to dress as I worked out the dress pattern on Mrs B, hopefully it will be easier to wig her. Mrs B's head moves and the elastic made a bump on her scalp.

Here is Mrs B with hair. Not as good as I hoped it would be. I will probably redo her as I get better. She looks at home in her kitchen.

This is Mrs B, she is the cook/housekeeper. As you can see she is waiting for the hairdresser to come. Wigging is soooo hard. I am on my fourth try! Keeping my fingers crossed that when the glue is dry and I start to style her hair that the hairline is neat and in the right place. Second try was the closest, her hair went into a nice bun and then I realised that her hair started a third of the way up the back of her head.

These are my first attempts to decorate masks. Pretty basic but they were incredibly fiddly! I have another set and someday I will try to be more adventurous.

My first (and only) room box - very purple. I made the desk from a kit especially for this room but it takes up so much room, I would like to add ballgown on a model but I don't think it will fit!! I think I will have to go back to the drawing board.

My first room box, very purple!

Just finished this chair. My dog Holly who sits and watches the bunnies out the window while I work ate all the scraps of leather that I put in the rubbish bin, apparently they were too yummy to throw out. Her picture is my blog picture. She is sitting with Teddy - he is the one who tells her what to do and gets into trouble all the time!!

This is my maid's attic bedroom, the quilt and the chest that is beside the bed are the first miniatures that I made.

The quilt is made from scraps of material left over from the one I made for my bed. (It took me 10 years to finish - my house was started 10 years ago and only half finished!)

I have just finished the bed. I must thank Casey from Casey's Minis for the tutorial. She has given my the confidence to try and make a bed of my own!!

My bathroom and my kitchen are the rooms that are mostly complete.
